Today is New Year’s Day. At least it is in my time zone. I suppose if you happen to live in Australia then the new year actually arrived for you yesterday.
This, the dawn of a new year is an occasion on which many people make resolutions for the future. They commit to changing their lives, habits and behaviors to achieve some improvement. I think for a lot of people these resolutions often focus on better management of their health or finances.
I think that if you want to, you can make a decision to better your life any time you want. You don’t have to wait for January first. For this reason I only make one resolution and I make the same resolution every year.
In the coming new year of 2025, I resolve that when recording the current date on documents, I will endeavor to note the year as “2025” instead of absentmindedly continuing to use “2024” as I have done for the previous year.
That’s it. That’s my resolution. There are a number of other things I will also do because they are dependent on the calendar. For example, I will start presenting my new insurance card when I go to the doctor. I refuse to procrastinate when it comes to life altering decisions, simply because of an arbitrary date.
